Back From Vacation

Went turkey hunting with my buddies and we scored 5 out of 5! The weather was perfect and the camaraderie was even better! My trainer challenged me to lose a pound on vacation. I didn't lose the pound but I did maintain the same weight, which is very good after all the great food our wives prepared for us, and all the Captain Morgan, arrrrh!

Had breakfast burritos, low carb protein bars and an apple during the days, then whatever succulent meals each of us brought from home.

I did have a really great personal victory - whereas I used to have to stop, sit, and rest every 100 yards or so, this time I motored up the hills with a full backpack, a shot gun, and a 30 pound turkey and I only took 3 breaks of about 5 seconds each. It was great and I am excited to see how good of shape I will be in this fall for elk hunting after training for my triathlon in September!

Keep on tri-ing!

Another Week in the Bag!

Dropped 3 pounds, I'll take it. Exercise? 6 days on the treadmill - 45, 45, 45, 30, 45, and 30 minutes. 4 days of swimming - 30 laps (750 meters). Weight training - 3 hours with Jess. Food was pretty good also. I am going on vacation soon and will be camping out with my buddies. My aim is to break even and not gain weight.

On another note, our pup Annie slept all the way from 10:00 last night till 4:30 this morning when I went to swim. Yes! Sleep at last!

6 more pounds off!

Dropped 6 pounds last week! Eating plan was much cleaner and exercise was consistent. So far, 37 pounds gone since the beginning of the year (my heaviest weight). Working with Jess, 27.5 pounds gone in 2 months. I'm happy and motivated. My workout goal this week is: 3 weight training sessions, 5 days on the treadmill, and three swim sessions.

New Puppy in the House!

We picked up our new Labrador Retriever puppy yesterday! What a cutie! Her AKC name is Newt's Bear Creek Annie, but we'll call her Annie for short. There will be major adjustments in the house for a while!

Oh yeah, I turned 49 today! Only one more year in the forties - where did the time go? It's not traumatic so far, but I have not had to tell anyone . . . "I'm 49". Tomorrow morning is my weekly weigh-in and I think I will meet my goal for the week. Only got in 2 swims, but did get in 5 treadmill sessions and three weight training sessions. Food plan overall was good, even on the road. Result will be posted tomorrow!

Another week gone by

I lost 2.5 pounds this past week, which was a little disapointing after the workouts I did. My trainer Jess took a look at my food diary and pointed out a lot of fat intake I wasn't aware of. I am going to try and keep it cleaner this week and see what happens. I know, I should be happy with 2.5 pounds gone, but at my size I really should be dropping 4-5 weekly for a while.

On another note, Saturday we pick up our new yellow lab puppy who we are naming Annie. She will be lots of fun and I am sure she will chew on everything I don't want her to! Oh well!

This week I am shooting for 4 swim sessions, 4 treadmill sessions, and three weight traiing sessions. I am also throwing in some short 20 minute walks during lunch for three days. My goal this week is to lose three pounds.

See ya!
