Back to Blogging!

Yes, I'm still alive and training, just got a bit sidetracked from blogging (yes Staci?).

Updates:
First, my last time in the pool was March 3rd and I have three more weeks until I start swimming again. My right shoulder (which has never given me a problem), was very tender. Went to Dr Lynn Voss at Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and the diagnosis is fairly good. My rotator cuff is not messed up, but can be strengthened which should align my bones better. My acromium is hitting the humerous, muscle building should help with separation.

I go back in a month for a follow up. I miss the pool. In the meantime, Coach Pete has me doing more biking and walking/running.

Secondly, Coach Pete has me running more, I actually ran 6 minutes in a row this week. Although I thought I would die, I made it through! Running/walking intervals are the order of the day.

And my weight. The ever present nemesis! My weight loss had stalled again and upon Pete's recommendation, I hired Breeze Brown as my nutritionist. Before I hired Breeze I was averaging 2,000-2,200 calories a day. She said I was starving my body. I asked her why were the Biggest Loser people could eat low calorie diets and still were blowing off weight so fast, week after week. She told me that their bodies were shocked as they had never been exercisers (or had not in many a year). I on the other hand, am an endurance athlete and my body knows what I am doing and am going to do. So it hoards calories because it knows it is not going to get enough. So here I am trying to be faithful to her plan. She stair-stepped me up to my current goal of 5,200 calories a day. Yes, I know, it is crazy! But I am starting to lose weight again. Slowly but it is starting to budge a bit. My energy is high. And yes, IT IS FREAKING HARD TO EAT 5,200 CALORIES A DAY! (unless you're eating crap). I tried going high calorie a couple years ago but I was resistant and only made it about 2 weeks before I bailed out from fear of eating too much. How ironic it will be if for the last 2-1/2 years I have been starving myself and berating myself for eating too much.

I have only 7 months of serious training before we start tapering and it's 8 months till the Ironman. Will I be able to get into a wetsuit by July or August? I don't want to try and drag 300+ pounds around that course. The weight needs to start falling fast! I journal my food and send it to Pete's and Breeze everday. Very few slip ups (had some pork rinds and cheese nips once). Of course, Breeze was not happy! :-)

March totals, including what I will do Monday and Tuesday are: 48 hours and 28 minutes! Next week I am scheduled for 13:25. Should be a great week! I'm glad to be back to blogging! Have a great week!
