Well , ,

Today is IM CDA, wish I was there.

Yesterday I rode 45 miles then waled/ran 15 minutes off the bike. Was a pretty good workout. I popped a spoke about 20 miles into the ride and my back wheel started going out of true. By the end of the ride it was hitting the brake pad every revolution, so I guess that just contributed to a great workout!
Had an awesome week working out.

Next week is a recovery week:

Monday: Rest;
Tuesday: 2:15 run with upper body weights;
Wednesday: 2405 yd swim;
Thursday: 45 min bike;
Friday: 2800 yd swim with upper body weights;
Saturday: 3:30 bike with 15 min walk off the bike;
Sunday: 1600 yd swim and 30 min bike.

Copy Paper and Boulder 70.3

So you may be asking, "What?" Well, did you know that a ream of copy paper weighs 5 pounds and that a box of copy paper weighs 40 pounds! I picked up a full box of copy paper at work and it is heavy! And my extra weight is equivalent to 3 1/2 to 4 boxes of copy paper! Dang! That is ridiculous! I AM GOING TO DUMP ONE BOX OF COPY PAPER BY BOULDER!!!!!

So last week, I blew up on the ride, today was much better! I rode by myself as my riding partner had a foot issue. Julia said it would make me tougher mentally, so, I rode. Whereas last week I had to stop 16 times before I cramped and had to quit.

Today I chose where to stop and I only stopped 5 times. I had a 15 minute run off the bike but was getting ready to throw up so I cut it to ten minutes. Loaded up the truck and started heading back and the urge hit me so fast I couldn't even get my head out the window, threw up all over me and the inside of the door. But one "Ralph" and I was feeling great. I think I was too full from water and that PB&J at mile 30.

Next week's long ride is 4 hours on the flats! Tomorrow a 3,000 yd swim, then its the couch, US Open, then dinner and a movie with my two sweethearts, Becca and Kelly. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Boulder 70.3?

Well after Sundays one attempt at the course, I was seriously doubting my ability. Yesterday morning I was doubting a lot. Should I turn it into an aqua bike? Will I even make the bike cutoff? My confidence was shaken. http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

Rode with Tea, famous triathlete round the net. I got dehydrated (needed two more water bottles I think), I didn't take in enough nourishment according to the HR monitor (it says 6,000 cals burned, the online says 3500, but I only had about 1500 cals taken in, including breakfast, average HR was 150). At mile 25 my right thigh cramped and I was getting woozy, so Tea and I walked a bit, then rode some more, but at mile 26.2 I was done. I wanted to throw up, my left thigh was also now twitching and ready to cramp, so I called it quits. Thank God I had Tea with me, she rode in the rest of the way and got my truck and came back and got me.

My coach still has confidence in me, so I will continue on. No matter what my weight come race day, no matter what happens or how far I make it, I will believe and leave it all out on the course. The next two weeks are tough, then a recovery week. My meals are prepared, I am going to focus, focus, focus!

Knocked out!

I did not get to ride Elephant Rock Cycling Festival today, my sciatica flared up last night. It hit me for the first time in 15 years on Thursday, was gone Friday and then flared up yesterday afternoon. I took 800 mg Ibuprofen before bed, then got up at 3 am and stretched, but I still could not walk without holding on to the wall or going from table to chair to counter to walk. My leg gave out a few times.

After 15 years, where the H#@! did this come from? Argh!
